Stability of Sucrose-acetone Treated Hantaanvirus Vaccine
¼ºÀÎÈ
Abstract
More then 1,000 patients suffered from hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome are reported annually in Korea and 50,000 to 100,000 patients in china, but the effective therapeutic agents and vaccines had not been developed. In 1988, Hantaan virus
vaccine
was developed and proved effective. This vaccine is a inactivated vaccine, stable for 24 months when stored at 2-8¡É.
In the study, hantaan virus vaccine was treated with sucrose and acetone to make powdered vaccine, and the stability of sucrose-acetone treated vaccine was tested.
Immunogenicity of Hantaan virus vaccine containing sucrose in low concentration was maintained in some degree even after acetone treatment and exposure at room temperature for three months. This results suggest that sucrose could increase the
stability
of Hantaan virus vaccine and period of storage of Hantaan virus vaccine could be prolonged by adding sucrose and powdering.
